Bayview Blast 27-28 May 2017

Bayview Blast 27-28 May 2017

This is one event well recommended to professional/novice or beginners, in the mountain biking world, I tried the event circuit out myself about a month before the main weekend and found it challenging with a good work out, I did not ride this weekend but got a reasonable session of photography in which I hope you all enjoy. Photo’s/images will be in gallery under Sports.

One word I will say is yes I am going to set my goal to race this event next year, so maybe I might get myself in some images by other photographers on the day.

Just little note’s, and info that I know of that I will give all so if interested will go and have a go at this event next year, all links I will have a list so you can easy go to the proper sites.

If you can ride a Mountain Bike, then am sure Bayview Blast and Rats cycling club will find an event that suits you best.

This event is a great family weekend for fun and excitement.

Sunday is the Marathon and Half Marathon. where riders will either be keen “competitors” or out to challenge themselves or other to see if they can complete a distance or set a personal time. Team events will add to the intrigue with pairs able to join in a relay format to challenge themselves or race for a place.

Rats cycling Club has negotiated a deal with “Mountain Bike Australia” so that all insurance built into the entry fee, so need to worry about race license for Social riders, road club members, triathletes, Tough Mudder enthusiasts this event can offer anyone and everyone a place to test themselves.

If more information is needed don’t hesitate to contact any of the links listed below, “Happy Biking”

Open House Gold Coast

On Saturday 17 October 2015, the Gold Coast city did host the inaugural Open House, unlocking the doors of quirky, interesting and significant buildings and invited Gold Coasters to take a behind-the-scenes tour of private places not typically available for public access.

Open House did provide a snapshot of the future of urban design on the Gold Coast as well as a journey into the past, with a collection of both contemporary and historic architecture open to the public.

Twenty five sites did offer guided and self-guided tours, children’s activities and other special events throughout the day.

This unprecedented access did enable Gold Coasters to deepen their understanding of the importance of architecture and urban design in creating a more vibrant civic life, and open a citywide conversation about building a better Gold Coast.

TSS Private School Southport

TSS Private School Southport

My Photography on the day was based on one building landscape area known as TSS The Southport School http://www.tss.qld.edu.au/ pictured above and in my Gallery for better resolution when opened, information about this building listed below, also the St. Alban’s Chapel 1920/21 pictured below with information.

TSS Clock tower Building 1925/26
Constructed as dormitories in 1925/26, with the Great hall on the east as a Dining Room, the three houses occupied the three floors, Ground floor, Thorold; Middle floor, Delpratt; Top Floor, McKinley. The building served as an American army hospital during WWII. The western wing was added in 1954 with the School’s Library on the ground floor until the current Library was built in 1975. On the northern end were Housemaster’s flats for Delpratt and McKinley; and the new dormitories were built on each floor on the southern side. The former Library is now known as the Memorial room; it was constructed as the Second World War memorial and contains memorabilia from our World War II veterans. The stained glass windows in the Memorial Room depicts the crests of the three original ‘Houses’-Thorold, Delpratt, and McKinley (all founded in 1909)-as well as each of the Armed Forces.
Only Delpratt House remains in the building; the others are now in purpose built buildings on the southern side of the School.
The ground floor of the building now houses a Visitor’s Reception, office including Admissions, in addition to boarder’s quarters.

TSS St. Alban’s Chapel 1920/21
Considered to be the spiritual heart of the School, St Alban’s Chapel was built as a memorial to those Southportanians who served in WW1 in the Narthex, an honour board list the names of all past students who served in The Great War, with those killed in action listed in the centre panel while the outer panels show the names of all who served. Over time the stained glass windows were dedicated to various people, including former students killed in action and some who returned safely, as well as staff and loved ones. The Chapel was the first building to be built on the hill site and in Noe-Gothic style characteristics of the newer building at the School. It was consecrated in 1921 by the second Archbishop of Brisbane, Gerald Sharp. A unique feature is that the pews face inward, in collegiate style, Banners hang from the Ceiling, representing each of the School’s Houses, including the Prep School.
Above the Narthex is the Chapel organ, purchased in the mid 1920s and manufactured by Whitehouse & Co, it is a two-manual organ with 12 stops and pedals and has been recently refurbished.

More pictures in gallery, love to no your comments as usual good or bad, as I am always learning, keep shooting all and enjoy the rest of your week.

Extreme Karting Pimpama with Fire and Ice Magazine Promo Girls

Catch me if you can in front of pit lane

Catch me if you can in front of pit lane

Sunday 28/06/2015 was a good day for me, I was asked on the Friday before by a work collegue, Paul Cornes owner of Fire & Ice Magazine  www.facebook.com/fireandiceaustralia  which is a model Webb sight he is in the process of developing, but using his facebook page until development is complete, Paul told me in conversation, he was asked by The Extreme 540 “GREAT RACE” Karting organizer from Extreme Karting Pimpama  http://www.xtremekarting.com/  if he could arrange a couple of Fire & Ice Promo Girls for about an hour to hand out pamphlets to Karting race teams and if I like I should pop down there as it would be a good opportunity for my photography. I mentioned that it sounds good but would be a very busy day for me as I have a Meet-up later that day with about 30 other photographers to do a long exposure shooting session, I replied saying I will see you there if I can make it.

Sunday morning comes, I look out side sky all blue and said to my self what a great day for a mixed photo shoot, meaning some model shots as well as fast moving karting shots and later on in the day some night long exposure photography. I must admit I have never done moving vehicle type photography before, though I love shooting my camera so much I would give it ago, I get to the Pimpama circuit early and introduce my self to Jeff Smith organizer of Extremekarting, and mentioned to him I had spoken to Paul, and if it was OK to walk around and take shots of the promo girls as well as going out on the circuit to take live action moving shot of the race meeting taking place, Jeff said not a problem and go see the girls behind the counter and ask them for a safety vest as in working conditions like this safety is a must, and be very watchful when out on the circuit. There are 3 different styles of Karts that can be hired out at this venue, but on this day the slower Karts where used, which have a top speed of 80klm, that is still very fast when you are that low to the ground, the other karts that can be hired have top speeds up to 150klm now that is what you call Extreme, overall the the photography session I had today was awesome, The Fire & Ice Girls,  Diamond Blaise Cambridge  and Tricia Louisa looked Hot as, they where working the race teams well with a Pamphlet explaining the safety and rules of the meeting.

As for what I seen of this venue and you have not tried Karting before, the way this place is organized with staff I would strongly recommend to give it a try.

Later that day I went and met up with 32 other Photographer, behind the Gold Coast art centre to do some Long exposure night photography, they where all a great bunch of mixed people, all with different knowledge and style of there type of photography, we all gathered heaps of useful tips from each other, I will be doing this meet up again in the future as there is always new stuff we can learn from. The picture below is my Daughter, which I was so proud of her to stay still for 20 seconds, she was a good model for this shoot, to enable me to take such a photo, I thought I would mention this as other photographers kept asking did I use a flash, there was “no flash used in this shot”.

Spent today at Country Music Festival with my youngest daughter and her girl friend and also an old friend of our family, well not really old it was 18 year old beautiful Jordy Banks. The day was awesome and the talent of the country music performers was brilliant as I knew it would be, they kept playing all day in about 1 hour sessions with 20 minute set ups in between. This event is a must for all to see and hear no matter what your music style is, I promise you will leave very happy and content, maybe even change your thought about country music. This is a list of talent that I heard while I was there, SELEEN MCALISTER, She is joined by the likes of Chris Rodriguez (guitarist to Kelly Clarkson, Faith Hill and formerly, Keith Urban), with songs written from her heart about love, life and family and tracks co/written with Aria and Golden Guitar winner Mike Carr and Golden Guitar winner Drew McAlister, this debut album is a snapshot of Seleen’s heart, the people in it and the love she gives from it, more info about Seleen follow her link http://www.seleenmcalister.com/   THE BOSTOCKS With Rachel’s amazing fiddle solos and ability, to Rob’s breathtaking guitar skills and lead breaks, to Sara’s charismatic and energetic bass playing, combined with their strong, warm vocal harmonies, you get the unique sounds and talent of this family band for more info about the Bostocks follow they link http://www.thebostocksband.com/  CASEY BARNES who also sung at Surfers Paradise Live, it was awesome to hear him again, Casey has also just released his new single ‘Waiting on the Day’, which touches on the sensitive subject of the loss of a child.  Casey has ended his triumphant year with a special guest appearance as support to US superstar Mariah Carey for A Day on the Green at Sirromet Wines, more info about Casey follow his link http://www.caseybarnes.com.au/ The day was full of so much talent, that I could not hear them all as my day was also planned for a Model shoot with Jordyn Lee Banks a future Model prospect if she keeps her thoughts towards it, today she was great and a pleasure to work with she is a natural, with the Country music playing all over the place in the back ground was awesome, it made the venue a joyful place to shoot good Portrait Photography.  Photo’s of Jordyn Lee Modelling portfolio can be seen in People’s gallery.
